Oh, the Places We Go!

The people we support are active in our community. Like everyone, they shop, attend concerts, work, and volunteer. But there are a handful of places they frequent over and over because they know they can predict how the experience will go. This destination list is by no means all inclusive but represents the many types of benefits each place offers for people - with or without disabilities.

Jenny appreciates that the horses know to bend to her level in her wheelchair in order to receive the best brushing. Joshua went to HorsePower for the first time this week and loved it!

HorsePower is a therapeutic riding facility that offers five unique programs for individuals with challenges. They see first hand that horses provide the companionship humans need to realize their own capabilities.

Everyone loves the Butterfly House & Aquarium. It not only offers educational opportunities but the environment is soothing and calms the most agitated.

It is so well loved and visited so regularly, that two people who receive our services volunteer there.

The Washington Pavilion has something for everyone and we take advantage of all of it. The science center is the hands-down favorite but the building offers a number of opportunities.

Several people attend nearly all of the plays and one couple even has season tickets to the South Dakota Symphony Orchestra.

Let's go bowling! It's great exercise, fun, and can be highly competitive.

The owner loves having us there. He has gotten to know several of our people and is always filled with praise for the staff.

Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month might be coming to a close but the need for greater awareness lasts all year. We are grateful to you and our community for always being welcoming and supportive.

We have 36 entries for our DDAM art contest. The winner and creation will be announced in next week's eNewsletter.

If you haven't taken our Community Satisfaction survey yet, it's not too late. Just click above on the header and you will only need 1 minute to complete it. We are getting some very useful information from it and your input is important!
