See how we celebrate!

September 9-13 was DSP Week and we celebrated our Direct Support Professionals all week. It was the least we could do for the amazing caregivers of the people we serve. Monday was Western Day. We kicked it off with cowboy breakfast. All of the residential homes received special treats and the reaction of one the staff members says a lot. He said, "This is a GREAT organization to work for!" Tuesday was Sports Day and day one of a poker run. Wednesday was Wacky Wednesday. Thursday at Twin Day and Friday was DakotAbilities Spirit Day with food trucks for lunch, a money booth, and a program announcing the DSP of year and the Poker Run winner. Enjoy the photos of the people who daily earn our admiration, respect, and gratitude!

And the winner is...

Blandina Yuyada!

Blandina has been with DakotAbilities for 13 years and is known for her compassionate, giving spirit. She received a plaque commemorating her excellent service and will travel to Chamberlain to compete for the statewide title Simply the Best.

Congratulation, Blandina!

Blandina herself often says that she is blessed beyond measure. We know we are blessed to have her.

Life in the Citi

We have been community partners with Citi for over 20 years. Several people served by DakotAbilities work there and they love their jobs. Citi just moved to a new location and these photos are the first day on the job at the new location. All employees should be so happy to be at work!

You're Invited

We have two special events happening in October and you are welcome to join us for either or both. On Wednesday, October 9 from 2:30 to 3:15 at Longfellow Center, we will be treated to the music of an ensemble of the South Dakota Symphony Orchestra. The Dakota String Quartet and the Dakota Wind Quintet will perform for us four times between October and March of 2020.

We once again are putting on a Halloween performance on Halloween itself. You don't want to miss this one because it gets personal with tales of ghosts at Longfellow Center. The play was written by our very own Shelby Roberts.

We will also be performing Romeo and Juliet. Your attendance will be the perfect way to kick off your own scary evening.
